THE INCIDENT
_____________

Jon had a stroke in 1989.

The neurological effects of his stroke created a condition called "sudden artistic output."

Jon's injury and resulting condition is extremely rare and wholly unique, so he has become something of a fascination to medial experts around the world.

Here is Jon, a medical mystery -

Here's the gist of what actually happened to Jon's brain.

In 1988, Jon suddenly developed tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and hyperacusis (over-sensitivity to certain frequencies).

This lead to surgery...which lead to a cerebellar hemorrhage...which lead to a stroke.

Jon awoke deaf in one ear, his vision splintered, and his balance permanently skewed. Parts of his brain had been sliced and removed.

His brain was broke.

But the neurons that were left made new, different connections. And compulsively creating art has helped Jon recover.

Jon resides in Gloucester, Massachusetts with his wife and three children.

And he painted.
And made collage.
And wrote poetry.
And scribbled over.
And rubbed dirt into things.
And some people noticed and kinda liked it.
